So what is this site all about? As a kid I was instantly fascinated by these electric vellicating devices known as pinball machines. I mostly played on Williams machines and grew older with them, seeing new machines coming, old machines going and finally watching the whole pinball scene stagnate with the shutdown of Williams in 1999. People just don't play pinball anymore these days. Maybe they have misunderstood those great skill challenging machines. These are no gambling devices, it's all about timing, physics and reaction. It is as real as it can get, no XBOX will ever simulate the feel of a real pinball machine. Maybe there will be a comeback for these machines sometime, as time spins in circles and everything experiences a retro wave at some point. Back to my story - When I read the book "shoot again" by Hartmut Huff, -maybe we should say - I ate it with my eyes, "read" is not the right expression- soon as I finished it I started drawing plans for my own pinball design. That was 14 years ago. Occasionally the plan to build my own machine popped up in my mind again, but I never put it to reality and drew the conclusion that it is impossible for a single person to craft a pinball machine (A Pinball design team consists of about four people that need approximately a year to finish a machine). And as we know, conclusions might get reviewed and change over time, and on the 20th of August 2008 I decided finally to put my plan to reality, no matter how long it takes. So this is a long term project and it will be finished some day. I guess a healthy level of insanity is required to start such a project, but it will be for sure the most all-embracing thing I ever put my hands on. more to come!
